The Celtic Quilt Guild

The Celtic Quilt Guild was formed in 2003. For several years, the Inverness County Department of Tourism and Recreation had sponsored quilting classes where the instructor selected a pattern and taught basic quilting techniques to a dedicated group of participants. After a few years of classes, it was time for quilters to make their own decisions about patterns or create original designs.

The idea of a guild was met with enthusiasm by the community. Among the charter members were master quilters, a skilled seamstress, experienced quilters and sewers, and “ready to go” beginners.

Today the guild counts 35 members who come from all over Inverness County. They meet on the first and third Tuesday on the month, from September to June. Members bring their own “work-in-progress”, enjoy fabric swaps, and regularly conduct workshops to learn new techniques or patterns. Occasionally guest speakers or instructors are brought in and they hold an annual Quilt Show in October.

The Celtic Quilt Guild is a member of the Ocean Waves Quilt Society and the Canadian Quilt Association.
