Paid Student INTERNSHIPS for college-bound students
Description
An established community arts centre in beautiful Inverness is looking for interns to join our team and learn the ropes of managing a professional art gallery, an upscale gift shop, an events space, and an artists’ studio in the midst of a hectic and exciting schedule of exhibitions, workshops and events. The interns hired for this position should expect to be involved in all aspects of the art centre’s management.

They include working with a great team of art enthusiasts who care deeply about producing quality work, learning the ins and outs of exhibition management, and helping to produce some of the best art exhibitions this area has to offer. In return, the intern should bring the following essential skills to this position: excellent communication skills, attention to detail, the ability to work independently on important projects, and most importantly, a strong interest in the arts.
Responsibilities
- Front desk duties, field phone calls, staff exhibition openings and events, etc
- Perform background research
- Assist with implementation of programs
- Develop promotional materials
- Perform online marketing and promotion
- Assist with documentation and analysis of programming
Requirements
Candidates must be current students that are entering or returning to college in Fall, 2016.
Excellent computer skills are a must, with experience working on the Web and in social media. Excellent research, written and oral communication skills, excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are important. Needs to be able to work independently with minimal supervision. A strong interest in entering a position in the non-profit sector–the arts, theater, museums–is vital.
