A Conversation About Ireland is a solo exhibit of paintings and drawings by artist Paul Hannon, exploring Ireland and his family roots. Hannon recently went to Ireland for the first time and located the lands his Hannon family ancestors lived on and farmed before they had to flee Ireland as a result of the Great Hunger of the 1840’s and early 1850’s. He has done paintings of their lands in Co. Leitrim, Ireland. The lands are incredibly beautiful and later became known as “Yeats” country as W.B. Yeats grew up in that area and wrote extensively about it.
Also part of the exhibit are several drawings of Hannon’s family members from his family tree. Though he does not know what they looked like, Hannon knew what they did for a living and painted them in work related poses.
This exhibit will be opening along with the Golf Show at the Inverness County Centre for the Arts, August 4th, 2016.
