West Side Performing Arts Cooperative
Please come to the West Side Performing Arts Cooperative’s Annual General Meeting on May 25th at the Inverness County Center of the Arts if you are interested in participating in the performing arts in Inverness County.
WeSPAC (West Side Performing Arts Cooperative) was formed in the spring of 2012 by actors, musicians and production people on the west side of Cape Breton Island to develop a “collective” of performing arts personnel, to provide assistance and training to those wishing to expand their skills in the performing arts, and to plan presentations suitable for many different types of venues to support local interest, education, and tourism.
Since its formation, WeSPAC has put both small and large productions in a variety of venues in Inverness County. It has put on classical music concerts, Celtic offerings, and encouraged audiences to go beyond the usual fare of what Inverness County offers.
In the past year, WeSPAC has put on a full scale dramatic musical performance of John Archie and Nellie at Strathspey Place in Mabou and staged a number of small Cabarets (piano style evenings) in halls and seniors complexes. WeSPAC highlighted a variety of artists at a Celebration of the Arts at the Inverness County Center of the Arts in October of 2015 which offered spoken word performers, dance, songwriters, and comedy along with a visual arts presentation, and broadened the awareness of the Cooperative.
Come along and be a part of the conversation as we plan for ways to support the Performing Arts in Inverness County
