Versa performance

Versa will be doing a one night performance, preceded by a paper marbling workshop.

Workshop – 7:00pm
Performance – 8:30pm

$10 / PWYC

Surreal and shimmering, VERSA is catching eyes and ears with powerful instrumental music and immersive analog projections. Alex Ricci’s psychedelic bass guitar leads feature in expansive and progressive soundscapes. Visually, Monika Hauck uses cymatics to illustrate physical vibrations of music. Her colourful synesthetic display is projected centre stage. The collective is rounded out by Will Vandermay’s appropriately outrageous, narrative drumming, and the jagged attack of Danny B’s sax.

VERSA has performed at major arts and music events such as Hillside Festival, Nuit Blanche, Wavelength Music Festival, Supernova Burlington, Hamilton Art Crawl, Nuit Blanche Ottawa/Gatineau, and Futurera. They are on tour in August en route to Hold Fast Contemporary Art Festival in St. John’s NL.

WORKSHOP:

This all-ages, hands on workshop will be a intro to paper marbling – the fundamentals of this ancient art form, and the ways we use it in a modern context. Paper marbling has a rich history as a method of printmaking used in decorative arts and bookbinding, and utilizes affordable materials available at most art stores.

After a brief demonstrations, participants will get to drop ink onto liquid, manipulate the ink into patterns using a comb or a brush, and pull a small print to take home.

Artist
