Speaking Inverness: “What happens/ed here …”
July 15 – Aug 5, 2017
Speaking Inverness, a project about places in Inverness, will launch this week. Speaking Inverness is an open-ended exploration of stories about what happens and happened right here around the community. The goal is to create a multi-dimensional event which is open to anything that speaks Inverness: recorded /videoed stories, anonymous or non-anonymous stories left in the blue Story Drop boxes located around public spaces of Inverness (the Co-op, Coal Miners Cafe, Freeman’s Pharmacy, and the Beach Hut are a few of the confirmed locations), photos and/or other media, and objects brought to the art centre.
We also plan to video some places, locales, with or without people in them. Successive “steps” in the project will be published weekly in The Oran. At the moment there is no planned format or structure beyond an intended event/installation/performance on August 5 at the art centre. We are hoping that the accumulated material and its participants will create a unique process and creative form which celebrates the life of a special community .
