Let’s Harmonize with Laurel Browne!

An introductory workshop on singing vocal harmony. Elements of the workshop include: listening skills (melodic and rhythmic), and good vocal practice exercises. Participants do not need to know how to read music. Materials are provided.

Laurel Browne is a Boston-area native with with Cape Breton family roots. Her performance career as a vocalist ranges from classical to jazz. She was a member of the Faculty Of Music at Franklin Pierce University, NH, acting as Vocal and Music Director for Musical Theatre productions, in addition to teaching Voice and Ear-Training. Laurel has been the Director of the Inverness County Singers since 2010. In 2011, she founded a youth vocal group, the Young County Singers, who are regularly featured on local concerts. Since 2004, along with pianist Marianne Jewell, she presented several voice/piano concerts around Cape Breton Island for the benefit of local Food Banks. Since 2008, she has collaborated with composer Scott Macmillan as Soprano Soloist on his “Currents of Sable Island” composition. (CD release September) She lives in Hillsborough, where she maintains a music studio, teaching Voice, Music Reading and Music Theory.
