inFlux Ideas: Tracing Incense: Materiality in Chinese Buddhism with Emma Bass, June 20

Emma Bass is a MA candidate at Queen’s University in the Cultural Studies department. She graduated with a BA from Mount Allison University with a degree in Religious Studies and International Relations. Her research interests include material culture, affect and the blurred lines between sacred and secular in religion places and spaces. Her current project, “Tracing Incense: Materiality in Chinese Buddhism,” explores the role that material objects, specifically incense, and the spaces and places that we find them in, are playing in shaping the development of contemporary Chinese Buddhism.
