Participants will gain practical experience in planning and preparing for different types of exhibitions. The workshop will cover key aspects of exhibition planning such as packing, transportation and will focus on installation dos and don’ts. The workshop will include discussions on appropriate hanging/installation hardware, framing options, lighting considerations, safety, trouble shooting and the artist’s responsibility vs the gallery. Also included will be discussions on the pros and cons of different exhibition styles and approaches (group show, salon, solo) and will conclude with open Q&A session where participants can discuss their specific questions about their own exhibitions.
The workshop is designed for emerging artists wishing to gain professional experience, and expand and develop their careers and capabilities. It will cover the basics of exhibition installation, problem solving and resources for artists and will also include discussions about more advanced techniques.
