Community Wellness Through Art (Our Environment) – Jen Vivian

The Community Wellness Through Art Initiative is a program at the Inverness County Center for the Arts in Inverness, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. It is partially funded by the Nova Scotia Health Authority, Cape Breton Community Health Board.

Art making can be used as a support for wellness within communities, families, and individuals. The Community Wellness Through Art Initiative invites members of the public to explore art making and how it can contribute to wellness.

NO art making experience is necessary. These open studio workshops will be fun and for members of our community of all ages!

Community members are invited to the studio at the Inverness County Center for the Arts for free art making on the following days:

Saturday, June 25th, 2016 from 12-4pm: Creating Community
Saturday, August 27th, 2016 from 12-4pm: Sharing Culture and Stories
Saturday, September 24th, 2016 from 12-4pm: Our Environment
Saturday, October 29th, 2016 from 12-4pm: Childhood Dreams
Saturday, November 20th, 2016 time TBD: Group Exhibition

Each studio session will focus on a specific theme around health. For example, creating social support networks, personal health practices and coping skills, healthy child development, culture and sharing of culture. There will be a non-juried group show towards the end of the project.

The Community Wellness through Art sessions will be run by Jennifer Vivian, MA Art Therapy.
